Day one - Explore the Burren on a day trip including the ancient Dolmen, the interpretative centre
and high crosses in Kilfenora, the Cliffs of Moher and back along the amazing coast road stopping to take
in spectacular sea views. Return to Doorus House, make dinner and then pop into Kinvara for classic
Irish traditional music
Day two - Leave the driving to Bus Eireann and spend the day in vibrant Galway city. Shop and wander to your hearts content, leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind as you return to Doorus House. After dinner you take the short 10-minute walk to the Blue Flag beach at Traught for a beautiful sunset over Galway Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Day three - Travel through Ireland's rich history as you visit the monastic centre of Kilmacduagh and the literary sites of Lady Gregory's Coole Park and WB Yeats' Thoor Ballylee. Visitor centres open from Easter til October and the park is open year round. Coole Park also offers kilometres of wonderful walks through the famous woods of Coole and visit the lake often full of swans. On your return to Doorus House join in a game of volleyball out by the walled garden. Day four - Relax with a day down at Traught Beach. Crystalline waters, picnic tables, a sandy beach full of beautiful shells waiting to be discovered, toilet facilities and a lifeguard warrant a day to unwind. It's great for families with small children. A perfect end of the day will be to return to Doorus House where the managers have lit a barbecue so you can cook and enjoy an open flame grilled dinner. Day five - The Aran Islands require an early start to catch the 10.30 ferry from Rossaveal (1 hr and 30 min from Doorus House.) At Kilronan you can join in on a van tour with local, knowledgeable guides or hire a bike to explore the largest of the Aran Islands. Don't miss Dun Aengus, an ancient fort shrouded in mystery. Careful along the cliff edge but breath in the fresh ocean air and magnificent vistas where the island meets the sea. It will be a late evening return to Doorus House but the door is open! Day six - Spend the day discovering the Connemara, north of Galway city. Drive up through Maam Cross to Recess and turn right on the R344. You travel along the backside of the Twelve Pins…a mountain range that makes up the Connemara. Stop at Kylemore Abbey and the renovated Victorian walled garden. Travel on through Letterfrack and Clifden. If you have time then a side trip down to the beaches near Ballyconeely and the little harbour village of Roundstone is certainly warranted. Return to Doorus House that evening and enjoy conversation with fellow travellers, swap stories of where you have been, what you have seen and get an insight of what's down the road from the other travellers you have been there.
